Belin & Millpond Cemeteries

Prior to 1949 the four families were buried at the Black Mingo Church also know as Belin Church (pronounced Blain) and the Millpond Cemetery.
The Black Mingo Church is located in Nesmith, SC the historic Old Will Town adjacent to Oak Hall Plantation.

Grace Dorsey occasionally worshiped there on a fifth Sunday.

Clealand Belin built the Church in 1844 with slave labor.
Although the Church was integrated, the African Americans had to sit in the balcony and could never participate in any functions of the Church.
Rhina McGee's resting place is located here since 1937.
Millpond

The Millpond Cemetery is nestled between the Black River and Jacks Creek.

Early African Slaves believed in being buried near water and facing east so when the Triumph sound they will rise up.

The Mill Pond was adjacent to Oak Hall Plantation which was John Thomas McConnell mothers Jane P. McConnell land.

George Dorsey, Joseph Dorsey, Hampton Dorsey, August Chandler and a few other with headstone are erected.
